1. The short version

Match101 stores what you put into it so it can show it back to you. Your plan, documents, interview answers, and recordings are private to your account. We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your information with residency programs. A small number of service providers process data for us so the product can work; they are named below.

2. What we collect

Account details: your name, email address, password (stored as a hash by our authentication provider, never readable by us), and whether you joined as a student or a mentor. If you arrived through a tagged link, we record that tag as your signup source.

Profile: your pathway (US MD, DO, or international graduate), target specialty, Match year, and an optional profile picture. Mentors also give their specialty, program, time zone, and the times they are available.

What you create: milestone progress, saved programs, tracked applications and rank list, interview answers and the feedback on them, voice recordings of answers, conversations with the AI coach, documents you upload (which may include your CV, transcript, letters, and identity documents), messages and voice notes exchanged with mentors, session requests, and support messages.

Usage: a record of which features your account used and on which days, and how many AI requests it made. We use this to enforce fair-use limits and to understand, in aggregate, how the product is used.

We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts, and we do not collect payment details today.

3. How we use it

To run the product: build your dated plan, score and coach your interview practice, store your documents, connect you with mentors, and send the emails that go with those (confirming your address, password resets, a new message, a session request or answer). We also use it to answer support requests, to prevent abuse, and to measure usage in aggregate. We do not use your content for advertising.

4. AI processing

When you submit an interview answer or message the AI coach, the text of your answer or message, the question or milestone it relates to, earlier messages in that conversation, and your pathway, target specialty, and Match year are sent to OpenAI, which generates the feedback. The read-aloud voice for interview questions is also generated by OpenAI, from the question text only.

Your voice recordings are stored with your account so you can listen back; they are not sent to OpenAI. Speech-to-text in the interview coach is performed by your browser's own speech recognition. Depending on your browser, that may send audio to the browser's maker (for example Google, in Chrome) to be transcribed, under that company's terms. You can type your answers instead.

Documents you upload are not sent to any AI service. Please keep patient information out of everything you write or record, as the Terms require.

5. Who can see your data

You. Each record is tied to your account, and that is enforced by access rules in the database itself.

Mentors, only as you choose. A mentor sees your name, profile picture, pathway, target specialty, and Match year when you message them or request a session, along with the messages and requests you send them. A mentor sees your interview answers, scores, and recordings only if you turn on sharing for that mentor, and you can turn it off at any time. Mentors never see your documents.

Other users. Students can see each mentor's name, specialty, program, and open times. Your email address is not shown to other users.

The Match101 team. Administrators see aggregate statistics. If you write to support, they see that conversation and the name and email on your account. They do not browse individual accounts, documents, or interview answers.

Service providers that process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase: database, file storage, and sign-in.
  • Vercel: hosting for the website and application.
  • OpenAI: interview feedback, coach replies, and question narration.
  • Resend: delivery of emails from Match101.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of users.

6. Program directory contacts

The program directory includes program directors' names and professional contact details as published in public accreditation listings. If you are listed and want a detail corrected or removed, tell us through in-app support and we will act promptly.

7. Keeping and deleting data

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account yourself at any time from your profile. Deleting it removes your profile, plan, applications, interview history, recordings, documents, messages you sent, and session requests. We keep anonymous usage counts (for example, that an account was active on a given day) with the link to you removed, and backups held by our providers are overwritten on their normal schedule.

You can also delete individual documents, stop sharing with a mentor, and cancel sessions without deleting your account.

8. Your choices and rights

You can view and correct your profile in the app, and ask us through in-app support for a copy of your data or for help deleting it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data, such as objecting to certain processing; we will honour valid requests wherever you are.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to each record is restricted to its owner in the database, files are held in private storage and served through short-lived links, and the keys for our service providers are kept on the server. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data, we will tell you.

10. Who Match101 is for

Match101 is for adults preparing for residency. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes and contact

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and its date, and tell you in the app when a change is significant. Questions or requests: use Contact support inside the app. See also the Terms of Use.
